People have to experience climate change to realize its dangers, which gives them an emotional connection with the initiative. The concept, Walks with the Last One, is an ambient outdoor installation that brings the climate change experience to life using augmented reality and 3D Hologram technology to connect the audience with these precious animals. The magic is in the audience getting to walk with the hologram animals, and then, at a certain distance, the animals fade away, leaving a sense of absence to the target audience. The ambient activation will be supported with bold campaign messaging and a call to action asking people to take action against the disappearance of our biodiversity due to climate change. The installations will be in three cities, namely Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Pretoria. The campaign will be run in shopping malls in these cities. Apart from 3D Hologram technology being affected by the initiative, people can also scan the QR code on the campaign material and experience the timeline until 2065, hence educating the public on the dangers of climate change if action is not taken.
